Guided Assistance Program (GAP)
The Guided Assistance Program (GAP) provides personalized support and referrals for women and families facing difficult life challenges. The goal of GAP is that every person working in the program is empowered to actively participate in her own life choices. The Center’s Referral Navigator works directly with women to connect them to community resources spanning multiple domains, including:
- Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault and other crisis services
- Social services offices
- Mental health resources
- Financial and legal services
- and more!
Such community resources may include current programs at Women & Family Life Center; programs at other local non-profit organizations; and programs offered by town, state and federal offices.
Through the Guided Assistance Program, a participant learns how to outline her personal or family needs and to create an action plan. Depending on the case needs, the Referral Navigator may explain eligibility requirements for local programs; help with filling out applications; advocate for access to resources; help participants prepare for phone calls or appointments; and more.
GAP participation spans short-term phone consults to longer-term, in-person appointments.
GAP is a free service open to women of any income level; health insurance is not required for participation.
